Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly Review- Video

Today we're going to be taking a look at a five on five 3,500 pound hub from Dexter.Now this is going to have half inch wheel studs, and the thing I like about it, it comes pre-greased, so packing bearings and all that, we really don't have to mess with. Basically with a good number 84 spindle, we're able to remove the old hub assembly and repair any damage. Maybe some of the wheel studs have been damaged, lug nuts, whatever the case might be, we're able to remove that old one, put a brand new assembly on, use our original nut, washer, and keeper from our axle. But outside of that, everything is going to be new and fresh and something we really won't have to worry about for quite a while.Now in the package you're going to have a EZ Lube spindle cap, just like this, and the standard spindle cap. more

Today, we're going to take a look at the CE smith pre-greased trailer hub assembly, and this hard carrying case for 2,700 pound axles, but the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this is how you would receive it, comes in this nice hard plastic carrying case with the handle, keeps all your parts all in one place. And then when you open it up, you'll see your hub assembly is all in one bag and pre-greased. And then your other bag has the grease cap, lug nuts and cotter pin all in a separate bag. Now zinc plating on these lug nuts, the cotter pin and grease cap helps limit corrosion. Now this kit will replace one hub assembly on your trailer. more

Today, we're going to take a look at the Dexter Oil Bath Trailer Hub Assembly for 12,000-pound axles. Has an eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. Basically when your oil cap is installed, you can see it's a clear cap and you can look through there to check lubrication. This is gonna be a great option for anything where you need a spindle and hub, but you don't need the full axle assembly, something like a portable welder or a cattle squeeze chute or an industrial dolly, just anything where you need that wheel hub, but not the full axle, so something a little bit shorter.This end unit is gonna come completely assembled, with the easy lube option. It's gonna make it a lot easier to maintain your bearings on the inside there. Just pull off that rubber cap. Probably need a screwdriver just a flat-headed screwdriver to pull that off. more

Speaker 1: So today we're taking a look at a trailer hub for 2,000 pound and 2,200 pound axles. This is a marine grade trailer hub that fits Idler axles. It does include your inner and outer races, and the wheel bolts are already pressed into place, so those are included as well. Now, this does require bearings, grease seal, grease cap and lug nuts, all of which are sold separately and available at e-trailer.com. It's a nice durable construction, and it features a zinc plating that has a 500 hour salt spray rating, so this is durable enough for saltwater applications. It would be ideal for use on a boat or a snowmobile trailer.Again, it is designed for 2,000 pound and 2,200 pound axles. more

Now this is a pre-greases trailer hub assembly. It's designed to fit idler axles. It includes the pre-greased inner and outer bearings, the pre-installed bearing races and grease seal. Also comes with the two grease caps here. One a close cap, one an EZ-Lube cap. more

Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly Installation 23-458- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our trailer we're gonna be doing a complete electric brake system overhaul. We'll be using Dexter electric trailer brake assemblies, part number 23-459 for the right side and the same Dexter brakes on the left side with part number 23-458. For our bearing and hub assemblies we'll be using Dexter's trailer drum and hub assembly, part number 8-219-4UC3-EZ.The best part about these brake assemblies is that they come preassembled so you just have to bolt them on. Assembling drum brakes can be a long, tedious task so you don't have to worry about it. The shoes included have bonded material so it'll give you a little bit extra life and prevent any rivets from digging into you drum if your brakes got stuck or you've worn them too far.They're electronically actuated so when power and ground is received here at the magnet it energizes it, causing it to grab, and the rotational force causes them to go outward into your drum, allowing you to stop. Since the are electric their replacement's a lot easier because you don't have to do any bleeding, it's a lot cleaner because there's no fluid, and it's fully adjustable with your brake controller up in the front. more
